Of Italian origin, Dr. Renato Calabria is a board-certified plastic surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, specializing in aesthetic plastic surgery, minimally invasive plastic surgery, and regenerative plastic surgery, a profession he has practiced for over 30 years in the heart of renowned Beverly Hills, California.
Graduating from the ancient and prestigious Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Padua (Italy), he furthered his post-doctoral studies with two research fellowships in surgery (Habor-UCLA Medical Center and Wadsworth-VA Medical Center in Los Angeles) and a two-year specialization in Pathology at Wadsworth-UCLA Medical Center in West Los Angeles.
After completing five years of General Surgery, including six months of additional training in cardio-thoracic surgery at the Kern County-UCSD Medical Center, he moved to the Bay Area, where he specialized in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, one of the oldest plastic surgery training programs.
Returning to Beverly Hills in 1995, he began practicing as a plastic surgeon, quickly opening new clinics and medical offices, in addition to Beverly Hills, also in Rancho Mirage, California, Milan and Dubai. Dr. Calabria is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the the Royal Society of Medicine in London. He is also a member of the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is part of the Voluntary Faculty of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Southern California, where he teaches residents the latest aesthetic surgery techniques as a Professor. He recently founded the Victims of Domestic Violence Plastic Surgery Foundation, with the aim of helping women victims of domestic abuse.
Throughout his prestigious career, he has received important appointments such as "American Top Plastic Surgeon" (from the Consumers' Research Council, from 2008 to 2012), "Physician of the Year" (2005), or as one of the "Top 10 Plastic Surgeons in the US"; and numerous merit awards, such as "Best of Beverly Hills Medical Doctors" from 2009 to 2014, "Best Clinical Case in Surgical Facial Rejuvenation" at the Third Annual Congress in Paris (2015-2016), the "Golden Bistouri Award" at the Third World Congress of Surgery in Monaco (2014), and many others.
Dr. Calabria is the author and co-author of numerous important publications. His mention in the best-sellers "The Beauty Makers" and "Behind Beauty" is well-known. He has given lectures at international conferences, including those of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and the Italo-American Society of Plastic Surgery.
His interviews have appeared in major newspapers, such as the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Forbes Magazine, Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, L'Espresso, as well as magazines like Vanity Fair, Vogue, LA Confidential, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, People Magazine; he has also been interviewed on well-known TV shows such as CBS News, NBC News, Extra, Access Hollywood, Inside Edition, Geraldo Live, KTLA News, Channel 9 News, The Insider, VH1, WE Channel, Tyra Banks Show, and many others.
Dr. Calabria has appeared on the cover of the magazine "Plastic Surgery Practice" and has been named by the magazine "Ezine Articles" as one of the best plastic surgeons in America in Los Angeles. He is also an active member of the editorial board of the London-based magazine "Body Language Magazine".
